The Government of Ukraine has adopted a package of key environmental decisions aimed at strengthening biodiversity conservation, restoring river ecosystems, and promoting sustainable development. Among the most significant measures are the approval of the Biodiversity Conservation Strategy until 2035 and the updated National Energy and Climate Plan until 2030.

A new national park, Chornyi Lis (Black Forest), will also be established in the Kirovohrad region, protecting more than 12,800 hectares of valuable broadleaf forests. In addition, the government approved a long-term Low-Carbon Development Strategy to 2050, which sets the course for economic decarbonization, climate neutrality, and the development of energy-efficient technologies.

Another important initiative focuses on restoring the free flow of rivers and improving the condition of water bodies in line with European environmental standards. The adopted measures are expected to enhance ecological and water security, support post-war recovery, modernize the economy, and further align Ukraine with the European Union’s environmental and climate policies.
