I didn’t think planting a tree could change anything, and yet it did.
Last Wednesday our school took part in “Clean Air Day,” and for a few hours it felt like the courtyard became a different place. We planted five young linden trees and a red maple, and as we dug I realized we were doing something that will last longer than we will.

The best part was seeing teachers and students working together, without grades or oral tests. Just hands dirty with soil and laughter. It doesn’t happen often.

Now every morning, as I walk into school, I pass by the little trees and I feel a bit like I’m part of that change.
Maybe we won’t save the world, but at least we’ve started to breathe better.
